FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND INSTRUCTORS

NEW EXPRESS WORKOUT – Meridith Holloman and Jill Eisentrout

This class is designed to be an “express” workout lasting about 30-45 minutes. You are going to learn what muscles you are working and how to get the most out of your workout.  It will be held in the weights area of the gym and use mostly machines.

We will focus on a different body part each month, starting with legs. You will receive a printed description of the exercises as well as progressions of each exercise. This will allow you to make the program more challenging if you desire through the month or afterward as you can continue them on your own.  It’s kind of like learning to be your own personal trainer. The class will be held Monday and Wednesday at 10 am and Wednesday evening at 6 pm. These times may be subject to change depending on class turnout and availability of machines at these times. We look forward to you joining us!

BALLROOM DANCE – GROUP CLASS – Lee Santos

Classes are held in the Dance Studio. May’s dance is the Rumba. This class is a group class, and you will need a partner to participate. Class prices are in addition to WR&F membership. Private lessons are also available. Please inquire with Lee Santos at 540-335-4800.

BOOT CAMP – Diane Burner

Kettlebell/ Handweights/ Core & Abs
This class incorporates the use of kettlebells and hand weights in the workout along with cardio and ab work with a focus on alignment, posture, and form. The class is intermediate to advanced.

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) – Diane Burner

This class format is Tabata, Boot Camp, and Interval Circuit workouts. These classes incorporate the use of kettlebells, hand weights, jump ropes, stability balls and medicine balls along with body strength. These classes are advanced.

A.M. YOGA – Seung Hee Han

The class is designed for a broad spectrum of students, beginning to intermediate and some advanced level. Each class incorporates postures, deep relaxation, breathing practice, and meditation. It will be able to be modified based on the student’s physical condition. The class will help you maintain your natural condition: a body of optimum health, strength, and flexibility, senses under total control, a mind well- disciplined, clear and calm, a life filled with peace and joy.

Seung Hee is a certified Integral Hatha Yoga instructor. She has taught beginning and intermediate yoga classes since 2008. Currently, she is teaching morning yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday at WR&F in Woodstock.

BEGINNER YOGA – Wednesdays at 6 pm – Seung Hee Han

This class is designed for those who are new to yoga practice or at the beginning level. Each class incorporates postures, deep relaxation, breathing practice, and meditation. It will be able to be modified based on the student’s physical condition. The class will help you maintain your natural condition: a body of optimum health, strength, and flexibility, senses under total control, a mind well- disciplined, clear and calm, a life filled with peace and joy.

P.M. YOGA – Seung Hee Han

This is a basic, hatha-style yoga class with no flow between poses. This is a beginner class to intermediate class.

LOW IMPACT AEROBICS – Jill Eisentrout & Meridith Holloman

Low-Impact aerobics is low on joint stress and high on fun! Combining easy-to-follow steps with a “go at your own pace” attitude makes cardio training approachable and attainable. For newbies as well as those who are experienced, this is a great way to start your day.

TAI CHI – David Brill

Experience an introduction to the ancient art of Tai Chi, which emphasizes mental acuity, balance, flexibility and strength through a series of slow, even movements. David teaches introductory and intermediate Yang Style, Tai Chi. He also teaches the classic “long form” from Yang Family Tai Chi. He has studied the art of Tai Chi for over two decades with many internationally well-known masters.

David began his study at the Shenandoah Taijiquan Center and through A Taste of China events which were held regularly at Winchester. He is ranked with the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association and is a ranking judge with the Association.

TOTAL BODY FITNESS – Meridith Holloman / Jennifer Wages

Just like the description, this class is designed to work and challenge the entire body. We incorporate cardio, strength flexibility and balance. We use an assortment of exercise equipment such as bands, free weights, stability balls and much more. Two words to describe this class: fun and variety! No two classes are ever the same! Don’t be fooled though, this class is a challenge and designed for those intermediate to high-intensity exercises. With that said, most days there are two instructors, and we make every effort to show modifications! Give us a try!

 Jen WagesI’ve had the privilege of co-teaching the Total Body Fitness class with Meridith since 2011. We think it’s the best class at the gym (we’re admittedly biased. I, never in my wildest dreams, thought I’d join a gym, much less become a fitness instructor, but after a friend convinced me to give WR&F a try, I was hooked. My fitness philosophy is that exercise should be challenging yet fun. When I’m not teaching TBF, I homeschool my four children, hike, kayak and read cheesy mystery novels.

Meridith HollomanJen and I have taught Total Body Fitness together for over six years now. I love the challenge and dynamic of the group class. But as a certified personal trainer with NASM, I also have the opportunity to work with individuals. I love the WR&F focus on functional training. My goal is to work together with you to establish an individualized workout that is fun and obtainable in a safe way.
